One game of bowling consists of 10 frames, with a minimum score of zero and a maximum of Each frame consists of two chances to knock down ten pins.
Knocking down all ten pins on your first ball is called a strike , denoted by an X on the score sheet. Whereas open frames are taken at face value, strikes and spares can be worth more—but not less—than face value. A strike is worth 10, plus the value of your next two rolls. Say you throw a strike in the first frame.
Technically, you don't have a score yet. You need to throw two more balls to figure out your total score for the frame. In the second frame, you throw a 6 on your first ball and a 2 on your second ball. A spare is worth 10, plus the value of your next roll. Say you throw a spare in your first frame. Then, in your first ball of the second frame, you throw a 7. The maximum score for a frame in which you get a spare is 20 a spare followed by a strike and the minimum is 10 a spare followed by a gutter ball.
If you don't get a strike or a spare in a frame, your score is the total number of pins you knock down. If you knock down five pins on your first ball and two on your second, your score for that frame is 7. Many people understand the basics but get confused when trying to add everything up. Tenpin bowling is an incredibly simple game, which makes it one of the most popular family activities , but not all of us are fully aware of its scoring mechanics.
A basic understanding of how the scoring system in tenpin bowling works can increase your enjoyment of the game - and keep the debates down at your next bowling corporate party.
Each bowler plays ten 'frames' per games, with a maximum of two throws per frame. The only exception is the last frame of the game, where you get to deliver an extra throw if you score a strike or a spare in that frame.
If a bowler achieves this impractical feat, then each and every frame will have been worth 30 points bringing the 10 frame total to If a player rolls multiple strikes in a row, the same general described above takes effect, meaning the bowler will be awarded double points for their next two rolls.
The only difference is that these next two rolls would take place across two separate frames. Take a look at this scenario: A bowler rolls 2 strikes in their first 2 frames of a game. Then, the bowler knocks down 5 pins on their first roll of frame 3 and 2 pins on their second roll of frame 3. For novice bowlers, a score range of around is generally considered good.
This would usually include strikes, spares, and open frames. For intermediate bowlers, a score range of is fairly common. This scoring range usually includes strikes, spares, and open frames. A player who bowls a spare in the tenth final frame is awarded one extra ball to allow for the bonus points.

Played many different sports with them from soccer, dodgeball, volleyball, bowling, flag football, and some of their social events. Great opportunity to play many sports at various levels. It is a friendly group that keeps you coming back to win the elusive champions fleece. Previously just played in one of their softball leagues on Wednesday nights and I must say I had a great experience. League was organized, umpires were professional, and the staff answered all questions I needed and made team registration easy.
I highly recommend their leagues! Lots of friendly and helpful staff and their events are a great setting to meet new people! These guys run great events and leagues!
