My daughter and I just returned from a trip to the Okefenokee State Park. What a wonderful way to spend the day. The park was beautiful and well maintained. The staff was gracious and friendly.

It was really exciting to see the wildlife in their natural habitat. The cafe was moderately priced, especially for the quality of food they serve. Please try the fried Gator tail. But my daughter and I agree that the highlight of the day was the boat tour. Thank you Shane for a wonderful and unique experience. And thank you to everyone at the park for your hospitality.

The park did an outstanding job displaying their Christmas lights so you could see the displays from the train ride that goes through the swamp area. The people working were very friendly and helpful. My mother who is 96 years old enjoyed the event as much as my grandson's who are 3 and 5 years old. It was a nice evening enjoyed by all of us.

Arrived for our boat tour at am, chose the extended tour. We saw alligators, 8 turtles, a flock of Ibis, great blue heron, sand cranes, kingfisher Seeing the swamp reawaken following the nine month fire is amazing. Enjoyed the historic homestead and the drive around, but the best was seeing the swamp on the water.

We used Okefenokee Adventures and our guide was Ron Linquest. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. We loved it even though it was August and degrees! We got there just in time for the 2 o'clock boat ride which ended just in time for the train ride that ended just in time for the nature talk. It also includes an optional walk up the firetower for a great view and a cool breeze. Our tour guide was very funny! Hats and water are must haves.

Bug spray and sunscreen are also a good idea. Train ride guide was hard to hear but you do get taken to a tiny museum that includes photos from movies filmed there and pioneer cabin. A lot of history in this great location of our country. Also, near Christmas time, they light the entire swamp with lights. You can view these lights on the train ride.
